The Kultura Literary Institute Association

This Polish emigrant publishing house has promoted authors such as Witold Gombrowicz, Maria Czapska, Józef Czapski, Gustaw Herling-Grudziński, Sławomir Mrożek, Czesław Miłosz, George Orwell, Josip Brodski and Tomas Venclova. The Institute was honoured for its post-war work to create an intellectual base for a sovereign and European Poland. They persuaded Poles to support the independence aspirations of Ukraine, Lithuania and Belarus and maintained contacts with pro-democratic Russians. The Prize was collected by Wojciech Sikora, the head of the Institute.
